The Writing on the Moon (2008)
Director: Nic Woodward
Cast: Jessica Wernke, Peter Michael Zienty, David Klein,
Joe Getty
Plot: In Attias Wisconsin, life is simple.
Everyone knows everyone in this quaint North Woods community
and nothing out of the ordinary ever seems to happen. It's Christmas
time, and while the town finds itself in the holiday spirit,
the Naughton's are grieving over the loss of their beloved wife
and mother just a few weeks earlier. As town Mayor Joe Naughton
leans on the townsfolk for moral support, his children Everett
19 and Dee 17 find comfort in each others presence. Dan Picardo
and Mike Hull are lifelong friends from Illinois, who travel
north on a hunting trip to blow off steam and drink beer. When
they stop for a bite to eat in Attias, they learn that they may
have bitten off more then they can chew... In the town of Waggner,
just a few miles south of Attias, a horrific bank robbery has
shattered their way of life and left a stream of death and destruction
behind. Attias sheriff Henry Mcgill and depute Robert Davies
lend their time and support to the devastated town. When the
Naughton children come up missing, the sheriff teams up with
the mayor and a wise cracking Indian by the name of John Redbud
to search for the Naughtons before it's too late, but what they
find is a dark secret hidden by the vast forest for hundreds
of years. In a race with time, the unlikely trio must find the
Naughton kids before something else does.
